Movie poster analysis-Knowing

This poster is very effective in gaining an audiences attention through its use of images which people can relate to, the Earth used in this poster is shown with North America facing forwards, this could symbolize the target audience who may have been in the America's. The burning of the planet is there to show us the inevitable conclusion in life that things come to and end whether it be life's, empires or TV shows things eventually stop. The fire is there to show how the planet will go in a massive inferno, the fact that the land is the main thing burning helps us realize that it must be from some outer space heat such as the sun which has caused it to start burning.
The title is also very useful to help us gain a better understanding of what the movie entails; the picture which shows the sun being blocked by the moon or vice versa (lunar or solar eclipse). These events happen very rarely and for some ancient civilizations spelled the end of the world as we know it. The overlapping of the sun and the moon could be referring to the different types of events crossing in over in the movie to have a distinct finish where everything is added together
The use of Nicholas Cages name at the top in big bold writing will help the movie gain an audience as people who are aware of the name and like his acting already have their attention caught. People who haven't seen the movie trailer would realize that this movie is about disaster and putting together the clues in the past. Even the title of the movie "Knowing" is a bit ironic as the whole film is about trying to figure out what the markings which were written so long ago are, this means the whole concept of knowing is irrelevant as they don't actually know anything.
