The first shot we get in the trailer is a very long shot of a character who we presume to be the main protagonist standing in a hallway with man y different roads but yet he chooses to go straight through the door ahead of him. We see this character in the second part from both overt he shoulder shot as well as a close up of his face showing him confined in some sort of cave. We then see him from side on reaching out to grab a spherical object a bit tentatively to show maybe the true power of the item in question only to be confronted by three armed guards of some unknown civilisation.
However once confronted he just gives up the ball easily therefore bringing in a bit of comedy into the film even though we expected some sort of epic showdown between him and the three guards to show us that this ball is worth taking. The comedy factor is bought back into it through the fact that he is an unknown villain wo no ones heard of when he sees himself as some international crime lord. The music drops when he says his name is "starlord", the music drop is efficient in telling us that the character is a bit of a joke as he had no intention of fighting to take what he wanted.
Marvel studios is the film studio which made the film, this helps to bring back a lot of past audience members who loved the other films which have been made by Marvel who has made films like spiderman, antman, X-men , captain america and the hulk. Fans of these films would look at this film as a very good alternative to films they have already seen especially when many people consider that the marvel films are all based in the same universe and so they can continue with slight references to other films.
We are then introduced to the main characters in the film through long shots focusing on them while one of the other characters talks over the top adding some background over the top of the trailer, The five people it shows are what we presume to be a team as they have a lot of focus o them therefore giving them prevalence in the shot. However the shot which is focused on the longest is that of Chris Pratt who of course also starred in Jurassic world to show that he is indeed the main protagonist. It says "this summer" to tell the audience just when it is coming out.
The next shot shows the five now prisoners walking in a line to their new establishment before the main character walks out to try and retrieve and item which we can see he holds dear to himself showing us that he has some sort of memory attached to this item, this helps us to realize that despite he outer appearance he still has a soft heart where he holds onto inanimate objects which are special to him.
The music which is so significant to the plot that it is then transmitted to the overall trailer as cover music over the top of the trailer. The shots then get gradually quicker and start to show a bit more action in them including some guns as well as physical fighting as we presume they fight to get out of prison or for the significance of the spherical object they found earlier until it eventually shows a close up of the main five during their penultimate battles with another character presumably an antagonist.
We then have the narrator label them as the "guardians of the galaxy" of course a reference to the titles name, after this the music comes back to reveal all of the characters standing in a line until finally the title comes up displaying it to the audience the name so they don't forget the lasting effect it has as well as a fade in logo of Marvel coming in to remind Marvel fans of the film.
